Project Summary:
This Passenger Information Processing System (PIPS) project, is part of the Business Application Server Consolidation initiative by the City of Phoenix, Aviation Department which is being initiated to migrate critical and vital business applications from their respective hardware configuartion to a more flexible and efficient High Availability Architecture. This initiative will provide business continuity capabilities by locating resources in different physical locations.
The PIPS cosnists of the following Airport-wide systems:
- An audible and visual paging system
- An integrated common database for all visual information
- Gate display of gate specific airline information and paging
- Baggage Information Display System (BIDS)
- Multi User Flight Information Display System (MUFIDS), interfaced to the existing Airline Flight Information Display System (FIDS).
As part of the PIPS project, Barich Inc. is managing the implementation of the virtualization of the backend server infrastructure of PIPS in place at Sky Harbor International Airport. The server infrastructure will be migrated from the current physical infrastructure over to a High Availability virtualized environment.
Barich, Inc., as the project manager, is responsible for overall project execution including adhering to schedule; bringing in expert resources in Information Technology and Airport industry trends. Duties include conducting and documenting interviews with appropriate Aviation and City staff; participating in Steering Committee and Sponsor meetings; conducting research; and reporting on status, actual versus planned results and recommendations.
Project Status:
Currently the project has completed initial analysis and is in the Discover (analysis) phase.
