ACRP 10-10: Guidebook for Airport Irregular Operations (IROPS) Contingency Planning

ACRP commissioned the development of a Guidebook for Airport Irregular Operations (IROPS) Contingency Planning to help airports ensure that the needs of passengers are met during extended ground delays. The objective of this project was to prepare a practical airport guidebook for commercial passenger service airports of all sizes to assist in the development, continual evaluation, and regular updating of Contingency Plans and Procedures. This research will serve as a tool for aviation system partners to improve their response to customer care during a broad array of IROPS conditions.

Barich, Inc., serving as a subcontractor on this project, provided an assessment of current and emerging technology that supports IROPS planning and execution. This research fed into the overall guidebook and focused on the tools and techniques that enable improved communication, collaboration, and coordination within and among all stakeholders.

The Guidebook is currently in the publication phase and is anticipated to be released in mid 2012. For additional information, please visit the project's webpage on the TRB website.
