In April of 2007,
Barich was engaged by the City of Phoenix to conduct an assessment and
develop recommendations for the City of Phoenix Development Services
Department (DSD) Internet website program. This project included:
- an assessment
of relevant City standards and practices regarding website development,
the best practices by similar jurisdictions, the work flow requirements
and processes of DSD, and the needs of the DSD stakeholders;
- an evaluation
of the existing DSD websites against identified work flows and processes;
- development of
recommendations for optimal design for ease of customer use and navigability,
optimal content to maximize customer access to relevant information
about the services available from the Department, strategies to ensure
website content management, within the framework established by the
Information Technology Department, the feasibility and desirability
of maintaining multiple websites, and the implications this has on
information users and maintainers;
- preparation of
a formal final report detailing all of the findings and associated
recommendations; and
- development of
a the scope of work to be used in the follow-on phases of website
design and development.
